The Shyira washing station was established in the Nyabihu District of Rwanda in 2017 by Muraho Trading Co. and has since grown to host some exciting projects where new processes and varietals have been introduced to Rwanda for the first time. This particular coffee is a prime example of a lovely washed Rwandan coffee with a lovely caramel texture and a gentle stonefruit sweetness.

Built in 2017, the Shyira washing station services some of the highest altitude coffee growing regions in Rwanda which results in some amazing quality and flavour packed coffees which showcase the fullness of their terroir.
A lengthy process, this coffee undergoes intensive sorting before being pulped. Parchment is then fermented in concrete tanks where they are stomped on to agitate and clean additional mucilage off the coffee. In the final stage before drying, the coffee gets swept down serpentine channels which aids in stripping off all residual mucilage and sorting the coffee by density.
